The RWC has kicked off and that means squeezing in matches / training between the TV schedule. It is a split dynamic - half the team aren't bothered about watching rugby, the other half + coaches are desperate to head back to the bar.
Today saw the sun disappear over the horizon, and the rain fall on The Stute for the first time this season. The warm weather, and the early Irish win meant that spirits weren't dampened too much (except for the lone Scottish supporter).
U8s focussed on passing whilst running this week, passing before being tagged, and drawing the defender. We also talked through the new rules they will face during matches. Guest coach for the day - Jason - honed in on these objectives and made the team work hard for their drinks breaks. Player of the day Dexter - concentrated hard, and put all the techniques into practice during the final match. The coaching team were impressed by his hard work today, and the way in which he took on advice when he felt things weren't quite going his way.
Next week is the first match - Paviors away. It will be interesting to see how the players react to the match situation and different refereeing. The secret blogger is away next week, so it will be up to the head coach to keep you informed on their progress.... Speak to you in October!
